|Description: Martha was one of the first cats rescued after the Camp Fire, and she lived in a cage at UC Davis for 3 months while being treated for extensive burns and injuries.
From Martha's previous caregiver, a veterinarian at UC Davis:
Martha is particular and has her own ideas about how things should be done. She loves chin scratches but doesn’t tolerate much more handling. She doesn't like to be picked up and she doesn’t appreciate moving things around in her house. She doesn’t like to move around in her cage. Her back limbs are stiff and maybe painful, so she has difficulty getting into the litter box. She doesn’t enjoy the meowing and barking of other animals. If she is eating and there any noises she stops. We think she would like a very quiet home where there are only adults who won’t expect much of her. We don’t think she would like other animals around either. But Martha will purr while you scratch her chin and the rest of the world melts away. If we had no other cats we would have already taken her home. After all she has been though and everyone’s hard work, she really does deserve a happy home.
Martha needs a quiet and stable home. She will take a while to come out of her shell, and only just started moving out from her cat cave/bed to the outside after 3 months of being in the hospital. She loves chin scratches and head butts for more cuddling with people that she trusts. She does swipe and is a little fiesty when irritated. We suspect that she will be a sweet low key/low maintenance cat who would just want a nice quiet spot to spend the rest of her days.
Martha has been Fully Sponsored by Raymond and Patricia. "In Loving Memory for our beloved Rainbow Bridge Cats."
All cats and kittens have received age-appropriate vaccines and are spayed/neutered and microchipped.
